Here is a statement from Kica Matos, spokesperson for the Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM) on the coalition’s demands to Congress:

“When Congress returns to Capitol Hill in January, they will once again come face to face with immigrant rights activists who will continue to be there every day until comprehensive immigration reform that keeps families together, ends deportations and allows 11 million undocumented people to become full-fledged American citizens becomes law. Nearly every day in 2013 FIRM groups held actions, visited Members of Congress in Washington and in their home districts, sent letters, protested and prayed to bring attention to the dire need to pass immigration reform.

We will continue to do this work in 2014 every single day. We remain ever focused on our goal and we are undeterred by the obstacles thrown in our way in 2013. We have grown in numbers, our political strength is undeniable and our voices will not be silenced.

We will see Congress on day one of their 2014 session.”
